🧠 What are Articles?
Articles come before nouns:
- a / an → general (any one)
- the → specific (exact one)
1. 🟢 “A” and “AN” (Indefinite Articles)
📌 Use when:
- Something is not specific
- First time mentioning
📌 Rule:
- a → consonant sound
- an → vowel sound (a, e, i, o, u sound)
✅ Examples:
- I saw a dog.
- She is a teacher.
- I ate an apple.
- He is an honest man. (👉 “honest” starts with vowel sound)
2. 🔵 “THE” (Definite Article)
📌 Use when:
- Something is specific / known
- Already mentioned before
- Only one exists
✅ Examples:
- I saw a dog. The dog was black.
- Close the door.
- The sun rises in the east.
3. 🟡 ZERO ARTICLE (No article)
👉 Very common in IELTS!
📌 Use for:
- General plural nouns
- Uncountable nouns
✅ Examples:
- Students need practice.
- Rice is common in Bangladesh.
- Information is important.
